Erik gained an early appreciation for photography and the arts growing up in South Minneapolis with influence from grandfather who was a recognized fine art painter, a musician and operatic tenor and his father who was a photojournalist. Erik has a strong educational background in photography. He holds an A.A.S degree in photography from Spokane Falls Community College, a B.A. in advertising illustration photography from Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California and is currently entering his second year competing for a M.F.A in photography at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, California.

He has had a lifelong relationship and involvement with photography and has been photographing since he was a young boy. Erik’s professional photographic career has spanned more than 25 years having worked in commercial/advertising photography in Minneapolis, California, Seattle and Spokane. Along side of his passion for photography was a strong desire to teach. Erik has taught at Spokane Falls Community College in the photography program for over twelve years; two years ago he accepted a full time position. In his current photographic pursuits, Erik Primarily shoots self-directed fine art projects.
